Is Weebly good for SEO? I’m looking for a free website building tool that won’t hinder SEO efforts. Is Weebly a good option for that? I know WordPress is generally considered to be good for handling SEO efforts but it can be cumbersome to use and build with. Weebly looks like an easy option but my primary concern is optimizing the site for search.

No, the free version of Weebly is not good for SEO. Although the Weebly website says it has SEO tools, the free version of the Weebly website builder requires you to use the weebly.com domain in your website (for example yoursite.weebly.com) so all your SEO credit will go to the weebly.com domain and not your own. If you really want to use Weebly we recommend opting for a paid version.
But why pay when you can get free? We recommend WordPress.org, as it is still generally considered to be the gold standard in SEO-friendly free website builders. We install the free Yoast SEO plugin on all the sites we manage and have found that it works really well to help you optimize your site. It even gives suggestions to improve your SEO.
