airborne vs airborne kidsAirborne packaging says kids get 2 gummies and adults (and kids 12 and up) get 3. So can’t you just give your kid (under age 12) 2 Airborne Original gummies instead of 3? We compared the gummies in three different ways to find out.
Nutrition?
We compared the nutrition labels of Airborne Original gummies and Airborne Kids gummies and found the amount of vitamins and minerals are exactly the same per gummy in both versions EXCEPT:

  1. No sodium in Airborne kids. But there’s not much in the adult version either: 5mg in 3 gummies (0% of daily allowance) which is 1.7mg per gummy. Give your kids 2 gummies and they will get 3.4mg of sodium.
  2. No artificial flavors in Airborne kids. Airborne original lists “natural and artificial flavors” in Other Ingredients.

So you could give your kids only 2 Airborne Original gummies instead of 3 and they would still get the same amount of vitamins and minerals as they would have with the kids’ version BUT they would also be getting sodium and artificial flavoring.
The image on the package shows a grapefruit on the original but not on the kids’ so this might indicate different flavoring.
Size?
Airborne Original gummies’ packaging says they are not for kids younger than 12 due to the risk of choking. So are they bigger than the kids’ Airborne gummies? Not that we can tell by the naked eye. Check out the side-by-side in the photo. The darker color gummy on the left is the Airborne kids. They appear to be the same size. If the thickness is smaller it’s negligible.
Cost?
We checked Target’s online pricing and Airborne kids 42ct gummies is the same price as Airborne Original 42ct gummies. However, you can find Airborne Original gummies for less at Costco, but not the kids version.
Bottom line, if it is important to you that your kids vitamins do not have sodium or artificial colors then Airborne kids gummies are the ones you want. However if you’re more concerned with cost, you can find a better price by getting Airborne Original gummies in bulk and only giving your kids 2 instead of 3 gummies.
